New Facebook Ad Policy: Think 80% Visually

Have you been having trouble with your Facebook ads lately? The problem could be your failure to meet the standards set by Facebook. Facebook recently changed the requirements that your ad needs to meet for it to appear in the News Feed.

According to Facebook, ads and sponsored stories in the News Feed will no longer include images containing more than 20% text. The policy does not apply to text appearing in product shots unless the photo is zoomed in to specifically feature the brand or logo. The new policy will apply to all ad units in the News Feed, including photo page posts ads, link page post ads, video page post ads, offers, mobile app install ads, and page like ads.

If you want your ad to appear in the News Feed, you’ll have to start thinking short, sweet, and to the point. Focus on an engaging image with a brief amount of copy to draw the reader to your brand. If you want to tell a longer story, don’t worry. Regular page posts that appear in the News Feed can have as much copy as your heart desires. The policy only applies to promoted posts.

Facebook has a 20% rule where your copy/text CANNOT take up more than 20% of the image.
