Chevrolet is the popular automotive brand produced by General Motors Company (GM), the world’s largest automaker. GM employs over 200,000 people in every major region of the world and does business in 157 countries. General Motors produces cars and trucks in 31 countries, including Canada, where the Chevy Cruze campaign was launched.
Chevrolet launched a national campaign for the Chevy Cruze, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) 2011 Canadian Car of The Year. The media drive included print, billboards, TV and other out of home elements, but was missing a key and rapidly growing medium: social media. The challenge? Bring the campaign to Facebook in a compelling manner featuring a brand new Chevy Cruze going to one lucky winner.
Majestic Media created a secure custom Contest Management System in one week. Here are some of the highlights:
• Video contest engine; watch a video daily and answer a corresponding multiple choice question. Fans who selected the right answer or Tweeted the contest, received a contest entry ballot
• Anti-cheat mechanism (captured over 500 cheating Facebook accounts)
• Backend management system to select daily winners & upload new daily videos 448-bit encryption (on database/user info) and hosting
Chevrolet doubled their fan base in less than a week while providing deep daily engagement to their fans.
