About the Client

Virgin Mobile Canada is part of the Virgin Mobile group of companies consisting of more than 14 million members worldwide. Their mission is to be Canada’s most-loved mobile company with the hottest phones and plans on the country’s largest super-fast 4G network. Virgin Mobile provides their members with access to exclusive music events, entertainment, fashion and travel discounts from some of the world’s largest brands.

Challenge

Provide incentives for Virgin Mobile members to share promotional codes and encourage their friends to become members. Virgin wanted to have a unique promo code generated for each user so they can reward the member who shares, as well as providing a reward for the user who is redeeming the promo code.

solutions

Majestic Media created a custom “members-only” gated application. Here are some of the highlights:
• Virgin Mobile phone numbers were checked against a database to ensure users have a valid Virgin account prior to gaining access to the app.
• Non-members could send a “shout-out” to friends in order to be referred to the program and be eligible for the rewards.
• Custom tracking and analytics, which allowed Virgin Mobile access to extremely, detailed data about the app and its users.
• Limited the number of messages and wall posts users were able to make in order to try and restrict the number of referral codes being redeemed.
• Displayed user’s profile pic and 5 random friends to personalize the experience.
